Our mission is to create a peer support group that facilitates brainstorming, provides mentorship, engages in community service, and helps develop the essential leadership skills needed to become a Primary Care Provider.

Our co-directors, Dr. Juan Robles and Dr. Maria Gbur, provide access to volunteer opportunities at the Montefiore Family Health Center. They also offer guidance throughout our pre-health journeys.

As part of the team, members are involved in:

  • Volunteering: The clinic has many support groups open to the community. Volunteers may choose to help run these groups and/or support the clinic in its daily operations.

  • Research: Members have the opportunity to start or join a project that can potentially contribute to the health and education of the community. Our team will provide peer feedback throughout this process.

  • Support: Above all, a team must support its members. We have weekly meetings every Tuesday, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. During the first 30 minutes, we touch base with each other, making sure we continue to walk on our intended career paths. The remaining hour consists of our didactic component, where Leaders will be able to present on a health topic, plan research projects, or discuss social issues afflicting our community.
